A collector's model of the Me 262A-1a jet aircraft in 1:72 scale from Easy Model. It comes finished, that is assembled and painted, with the markings applied at the factory. It is not a kit; the model is not glued, not sanded and not sprayed and can be used straight out of the box.
The Me 262A-1a was the single-seat fighter version of the first jet aircraft put into production service. The fuselage with its triangular section carried the gun armament concentrated in the nose, and the power came from two axial jet engines slung under a wing with a slightly swept leading edge. The landing gear was of the nosewheel type, which was still unusual on combat machines when the aircraft appeared. Some of the machines that survived in 1945 were taken over by Allied countries, which shipped them away for testing. The aircraft were given new national insignia and serials and flew with test units to measure the performance of the airframe and the life of the jet engines.
A finished model makes sense wherever the result matters and not the building. It does away with work with glue, filler and an airbrush and with the need for a workspace. It is also a practical way to put two different versions of the same type side by side in a display case and compare the differences in markings without building two kits. In 1:72 scale the model stays small and is easy to handle; it is simply best to pick it up by the fuselage and not by the thin surfaces or the landing gear.
The model is supplied finished, assembled and painted. Glue and paints are not needed. It is best placed in a closed display case out of direct sunlight.
