The real subject

The Junkers Ju-52 was a German transport aircraft of the 1930s, recognizable at first glance by its corrugated duralumin skin. In its most widespread version it was a three-engine machine and became one of the most used transport aircraft of its day: it carried passengers and cargo, could take off from short grass strips and stood up to hard service. Besides the German routes it was also used by airlines in other countries, and according to its name the sheet carries the markings of the Polish company LOT, that is Polskie Linie Lotnicze.

What the sheet offers

This is a decal sheet for 1:87 scale, which corresponds to HO in railroad modeling. A model in this ratio suits a layout as well as a smaller diorama with buildings and figures of the same size. Civil markings are especially demanding on transport aircraft: the stripes, the lettering and the company emblem cannot be sprayed reliably, so a decal is the only route to a sharp result. How to apply the sheet

First check in the instructions whether this is a self-adhesive version: a self-adhesive film that has been soaked is ruined, whereas a waterslide decal that has not been soaked can still be soaked later. With the usual waterslide version, finish the surface to a gloss, cut the motif out, soak it in lukewarm water and after a moment slide it off the backing paper onto the moistened spot. Settle it with tweezers, blot the water away and let it dry; on the corrugated skin a decal softener helps the film to settle into the corrugations.
