A turned replacement gun barrel for the Soviet 100 mm BS-3 field gun in 1:35 scale, a replacement for the plastic part from a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned gun barrel of 100 mm caliber for a model of the Soviet BS-3 field gun in 1:35 scale. The barrel from a kit tends to be split into two halves, so after gluing a seam is left along its length that has to be sanded out, and the circular section is easily spoiled in the process. A turned part is made from one piece, so it has no seam and the cylindrical surface stays regular along its whole length.
The figure L/56 in the product name gives the length of the barrel expressed in multiples of the caliber, not the caliber itself. The caliber is those 100 mm; the number after the slash therefore says how many times the caliber fits into the length of the barrel. At the same caliber, a longer barrel means a higher muzzle velocity, which is why it is given as part of the designation on artillery.
Cut off the plastic barrel from the kit and level the seating surface so the new barrel does not sit askew. Try it dry and check by eye that it lines up with the shield and the carriage. It is glued with super glue, and on metal a two-part glue holds well too. Before painting, degrease the part and apply a base coat, otherwise the paint will rub off the smooth surface during handling. Pick the muzzle of the barrel out with a dark shade on the finished model.
The kit of the gun, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The particular kit and the procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
