The subject is the second-generation Toyota Aristo with the factory code JZS161 in the V300 Vertex Edition version, as it was in 1997. The same version appears in several releases, so choose by the vehicle, the model year and the tuner in the name.
The second-generation Aristo was sold in Japan from 1997 and on export markets the same car was offered under the Lexus brand. The JZS161 code denotes the version with a longitudinally mounted turbocharged three-liter JZ series inline six-cylinder and rear-wheel drive. Vertex Edition was the sportily tuned level of the range, which combined powerful mechanicals with an executive body, and it was precisely this combination that made the Aristo a popular car on the Japanese tuning scene.
The dark gloss finish that suits Japanese sedans best is at the same time the most demanding one to finish, because it reveals every wave. After the color coat, clear coat is therefore in order, and in two stages: the first thin layer serves as a base under the decals, the second sinks them in so that no visible edge is left around them. Apply the decals onto a glossy, fully dried surface and press them down with a cotton bud over a dampened area so that no air stays under them. Thicker decals are helped into place by a decal softener, but use it sparingly and do not move a seated decal until it has dried. The final depth of gloss only comes from polishing with abrasive paste after several days of drying.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
