A printed accessory for building dioramas in 1:35 scale from the ETA diorama brand. The set brings carpet motifs intended for interior scenes, that is for rooms, corridors or the insides of buildings, where the floor tends to be most in view. It is neither a model nor a kit but printed sheets to be cut out and glued on. The number of motifs is stated on the box of the set.
The interior of a diorama gives away a lack of detail faster than the exterior, because the viewer looks from close up and the areas are small. Drawing a convincing carpet pattern by hand is practically impossible in 1:35 scale, so a printed motif solves a problem that paint cannot handle. The set suits residential interiors, offices and scenes built in the ruins of buildings.
Cut the motif out with a sharp scalpel along a ruler and try it dry before gluing so that it fits the area. Glue the paper with thinned PVA glue applied onto the base and press from the center toward the edges so that no bubbles remain. A carpet looks more alive with a slightly rippled edge or a folded corner, so dampen the paper a little before gluing. Once dry, go over the surface with a matte coat, which removes the sheen of the print, and suggest dust and wear where people walk with a fine wash or pigment.
The accessory is supplied as a printed set of motifs. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
