About product

The real subject

The F-14 is a two-seat twin-engined carrier fighter with a variable-sweep wing, which served from the nineteen-seventies, and you will recognize it by its two vertical tail surfaces and the wide flat fuselage between the engine nacelles. The D version was the last and the most modern, and it received new avionics and digital equipment in the cockpit. The cockpit here is long and glazed along its whole length, so under the canopy both the pilot's front station and the operator's rear station are visible, and the detail of the interior really does tell on a finished model.

What the set contains

Colored three-dimensionally printed elements of the cockpit equipment, that is instrument panels, side consoles and further small details of the interior. The elements have a raised relief, so the instruments, levers and bezels stand up above the surface and once stuck down do not look like printed paper. The set is tied to the Hasegawa kit in 1:48 scale, and the exact list of parts is given by the manufacturer's instructions.

How the elements are applied

The elements of this range are printed on a decal carrier paper and have no adhesive layer of their own. The part is cut out of the sheet, soaked in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slid off the paper into place. A decal softener and a setting solution do not belong here, as they would attack the printed resin. Degrease the surface in the cockpit beforehand and cover it with gloss varnish, on which an element holds most reliably, then guide the part with tweezers and press it down with a cotton bud from the center toward the edges. On an intricate surface a drop of cyanoacrylate glue will help, and with larger parts it pays to try the position dry, because once an element is seated it can only be moved with difficulty.

  • 1:48 scale, the cockpit equipment of the F-14D
  • elements on decal paper, a short soak, no softener
  • a raised relief of the instruments and controls
  • tied to the Hasegawa kit

FAQ

Yes, briefly. The cut-out part is immersed in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slid off the carrier paper. It has no adhesive layer of its own and holds on gloss varnish.

No, and it must not be used. A decal softener and a setting solution do not belong with printed resin, as they would attack it.
