S. Sosabowski commanded the Polish Independent Parachute Brigade, which in September 1944 was committed as part of the Allied Operation Market Garden at the Dutch town of Driel on the south bank of the Rhine, opposite Arnhem. Sosabowski is among the officers who had reservations about the plan of the operation even before it began, and the connection with Driel and Arnhem in 1944 is the best-known chapter of his life.
A bust is not a figure for a scene. It is a large-format bust that lives and dies by the face, the gaze and the rendering of the uniform. The figure of 200 mm corresponds to the size of the finished bust, which is many times the area to be painted compared with an ordinary figure. That is exactly why a bust is chosen by modelers who want to move from building in quantity to a single piece and to devote time to it.
Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will hold unreliably. Cut the excess material and the production traces off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down carefully so that you do not lose the modeled detail. Build the skin up in thin coats from the base tone toward highlights and shadows, because at a large format every hard transition shows. The uniform, on the contrary, should not be overpainted: restrained shading looks more convincing than strong contrast.
