A blue wash for accentuating recesses and modeled detail on models as well as figures. The shade Aether Blue.
Responsibility details are not available.
A wash is a thin, deeply colored paint that once applied runs into the recesses, the gaps and the folds and stays precisely where a shadow would naturally lie. In one stroke it thus accentuates detail that is lost under the base coat, and the model stops looking flat. On a smooth area it holds only as a faint veil, so it can also be worked with as a toning filter.
The blue shade suits everywhere a shadow is meant to come across cool: on white and light gray areas, on winter scenes, on ice and snow, on chromed and polished surfaces. A blue shadow is at the same time a proven way to leave white white and still give it depth, because a gray wash dirties it and a brown one yellows it. It will find a use in fantasy and science fiction subjects as well, where cool lighting belongs to the look.
It is applied with a brush onto a finished, dried and degreased coat. It holds best on a gloss or semi-gloss base, over which it runs freely; on a completely matte surface it stops where you leave it and a stain comes about easily. Draw the excess off with a clean damp brush before it dries. Stir the contents of the bottle before use. Choose the thinner and the ratio of thinning according to the maker's instructions on the packaging, that is a thinner intended for this line.
For modelers as well as figure painters who want to accentuate detail quickly without laborious hand shading. A model, a brush and a thinner are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
