Letters and Numbers 10 mm GOTHIC, the largest size in a Gothic typeface

A set of letters and numbers 10 mm tall in an ornamental Gothic typeface from the maker Green Stuff World. It is the largest size the maker carries in this line, and it is used differently from small labels: a ten-millimeter inscription is the dominant feature of the area you seat it on, and it reads from a distance and in a photograph taken from farther away as well. It is neither a kit nor a part of a model but a scenic feature by which text gets into a setting.

How to work with them

With large characters a scene forgives the least: every deviation in spacing and in height is seen at once. Lay the inscription out dry, then, measure the overall length and only then choose the area it will go on, so that room is left at the sides and the text does not end right at the edge. Mark the baseline with masking tape. At this size a Gothic typeface has its strokes richly played out, so it will bear accenting well: a dark glaze around the characters will optically set them off from the base, and a light brightening of the upper edges will give them three-dimensionality. The particular procedure for fixing them follows the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging. At the end unify the whole area with a matte varnish and add a fine hint of patina if you wish, so that the inscription looks as old as the building beneath it.
