A kit of the French Dassault MD.450 Ouragan jet fighter in 1:144 scale. The model is assembled and painted before being displayed.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Dassault MD.450 Ouragan was the first French jet fighter to reach series production. In appearance it still belongs to the early jet era: a straight wing with tanks on the tips, a short fuselage with a nose air intake and a single jet engine. Besides the French Air Force it also served with the air forces of other countries, where it was used in the fighter and the attack role. In the small scales it is a type that appears in display cases rather rarely, so it can noticeably complete a collection of postwar machines.
This is a kit, that is, a model that has yet to be assembled and painted. The range of parts, the contents of the decal sheet and the recommended paints are in the instructions enclosed with the kit.
The 1:144 scale forgives less than it seems. On a small model every unglued joint is visible, so try the parts dry first, cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder. Wash and degrease the model before painting, so the paint holds. Apply several thin coats; one heavy coat at this scale floods the fine surface relief and rounds the edges off. Mask the canopy before spraying. A gloss varnish pays off under the decals, as it reduces the risk of matte edges around them.
The model suits collectors of the small scales who are assembling a survey collection of jet aircraft, and modelers who could use a smaller project for one afternoon alongside a large kit under construction.
The paints, the glue, brushes and modeling tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
