A set of letters and numbers 4 mm tall in a neutral, unornamented typeface from the maker Green Stuff World. The designation STANDARD sets this variant apart from the Gothic line: the lettering is simple and legible, without historicizing strokes, so it does not come across as stylized and suits everywhere an inscription is meant to look like ordinary technical marking. It is neither a kit nor a part of a model but a means of getting text into a scene.
The height of 4 mm is the smallest size of the line, so have tweezers, good light and best of all a magnifier ready. First lay the inscription out dry, count the characters and measure the overall length, to see whether it will fit the intended area. Mark the baseline with masking tape and lay the characters to it from below. A neutral typeface forgives less than an ornamental one: with simple lettering uneven spacing is seen at once, because the eye has nothing to be distracted by. The particular procedure for fixing them follows the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging. Once dry, unify the inscription with the base with a light dark glaze and a matte varnish. With technical marking slight wear moreover works well, that is a fine breaking up or dusting of the inscription, because a perfectly clean label on an otherwise weathered surface comes across as out of place.
For builders of dioramas with city, industrial and modern subjects, for modelers of equipment and for wargaming players who mark terrain features with unobtrusive lettering. For a medieval and fantasy scene the Gothic typeface from the same line suits better.
Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package.
