The set is intended for the seat, not for the whole aircraft; it is neither a kit nor a resin replacement. The sheet carries full-color decals with a raised relief that stand in for the belts, straps, control handles and padding on the kit seat. According to the name, it covers the seat of all three configurations of the Lightning II, that is versions A, B and C in 1:48 scale.
The F-35 cockpit is very clean, without a mass of small instruments, so the color belts of the seat are in effect the only strongly contrasting element in the whole space. That is exactly why it pays to take time over them: an inaccurately placed strap shows on a finished model more than it would on aircraft with a busier interior. The advantage of relief decals is that they need no metal bending and no cyanoacrylate glue, so they are easy to work with even in the confined space of a cockpit tub.
First sand smooth the places where the belts will go, so that no molded relief is left under the film. Spray the seat with a dark base, put gloss varnish over it and only then apply the decal; the gloss surface is your insurance against silvering. Apply the softener with a dropper, one drop at a time, and let it draw the film into shape by itself, leaving the decal undisturbed for at least 45 minutes; a brush run over a relief decal creases it. When it is completely dry, unify the surface with matte varnish, which takes the shine off the belts and the shell in one go.
The box holds decals only. It does not include the kit, paints, varnish or decal softener.
