Color instrument panels with a raised relief for the F/A-18D Hornet in 1:48 scale, with the screens shown in the switched-on state.
Responsibility details are not available.
The instrument panel is the most closely watched surface of the whole cockpit and at the same time the most laborious. It calls for small dials, legible displays and clean edges, and doing all of that by hand in 1:48 scale takes more time than the rest of the pilot's space put together. This set offers finished color panels with a raised relief that are placed straight onto the kit parts.
The panels are worked out as though the avionics were live: the multi-function displays carry an image instead of the gray surface of a switched-off monitor. That suits a model caught on takeoff, in action, or on a carrier deck with crew around it. On a machine parked with a cover over the cockpit, the version with dark screens looks truer.
Clean and degrease the base, transfer the element with tweezers and press it down with a soft stick so that it seats over the whole area and no bubble is left under it. Before applying, check the method of attachment in the instructions, because it differs between the individual lines. Go by the manufacturer's instructions enclosed with the set; it pays to read them before you start work.
For builders of the two-seat Hornet who leave the cockpit open. Please check the fit with your kit against the manufacturer's instructions. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
