A color three-dimensional decal of the instrument panel for models of the Sea Harrier FRS.1 in 1:48 scale from Kits-World. The screens ACTIVE designation means that the screens are printed as lit, with light content on a dark base. It is applied like a decal, and the relief printing gives the panel its three-dimensional look.
A lit display is the most conspicuous place in the cockpit and behaves much like a bold personal emblem on a fuselage: it draws the eye before anything around it. It is worth adapting the rest of the build to that. If the model stands with the canopy open, the surroundings of the lit panel should stay restrained so that the elements do not compete with each other. On a model on a flight stand, on the other hand, where the canopy is closed, an active panel does exactly what it should, because it is only half visible and reads as a live instrument behind glass.
Sand away the raised detail of the original panel, spray the surface with gloss paint and let it dry through. Soak the motif in lukewarm water, slide it off and settle it, then blot the surplus water away with a tissue laid on. Apply the softener drop by drop along the edges. Once it is dry, the glowing-screen effect is best supported by flattening the surroundings and leaving only the display areas gloss, or giving them a drop of clear varnish.
An accessory, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package. The same subject also exists in a variant with unlit screens; go by the exact designation in the name.
