A printed display base for a 1:72 model, RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire, the 1960s from Kits-World is a square sheet 450 x 450 mm with the surface of a particular British station.
Responsibility details are not available.
A printed sheet 450 x 450 mm showing the surface of Waddington airfield in the county of Lincolnshire in the form matching the 1960s. It serves as a base under a finished model; it is neither a kit, a decal nor a set of parts.
The period determines which model the base holds together with. In British aviation the 1960s are the time of the move to jet machines and of the rebuilding of airfield surfaces that had to cope with them in both size and load-bearing capacity. A model from that time stood on a surface matching the era looks believable; the same machine on a base from the 1940s is distracting, even if a viewer need not be immediately aware of it.
A square format is easily placed on a shelf and on a photographic table. Under a single-engine model in 1:72 the size is comfortable; with larger machines expect the area to be filled completely. If you build several models from the same time, one base will serve again and again: you change only the model and the setting stays. Accessories such as trolleys, ladders or ground personnel figures can be placed freely across the area and the scene gains its scale at once.
This is a printed accessory for displaying and photographing a model. The model, figures and other accessories are not included in the package.
