The Su-27 is a heavy single-seat fighter with a pair of turbofan engines, a blended transition between fuselage and wing and large lifting surfaces, which give it unusually good agility for so large a machine. In the NATO reporting name the single-seat form is carried as the Flanker B. The designation P1M belongs to the modernized form in service with the Ukrainian Air Force, which is what this sheet is aimed at.
These are decals with markings in 1:48 scale. How many marking options the sheet offers and which machines they belong to are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer; the placement of the individual items on the model follows them as well.
Sheets of this kind are applied as wet decals. Prepare the surface first: a decal holds and stays free of silvering only on a smooth gloss finish. Cut the item out close to the design, soak it in lukewarm water and let it stand briefly until it releases from its backing. Slide it into place, nudge it into the right position with a brush and draw off the surplus water with a cloth. On an intricate surface with engraving and rivets a softener helps, after which the decal is drawn down onto the shape. Once dry, give the model a varnish, so that the edge of the film disappears under a uniform sheen.
The kit, paints, varnish and softener are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
