A decal sheet in 1:48 scale for a model of the Alpha Jet in the E version, with the markings of aircraft of the Belgian and the French Air Force. Trainers tend to wear more colorful finishes than combat machines, so sheets of this kind bring together striking color bands, school badges and numbers. Which particular aircraft are covered, and where the individual elements belong, is shown by the drawing enclosed by the manufacturer.
The Alpha Jet is a jet trainer and light attack aircraft that came about through French-German cooperation. It has a pair of turbofan engines, a high-mounted swept wing and two seats in tandem, the rear one set higher so that the instructor can see forward. The E version is the French training variant. The type stayed in service for decades and a number of other countries used it as well.
Varnish the surface under a decal with gloss clear varnish and let it cure, otherwise air is held under the film and the edge shows as a light rim. Cut the element out close to the edge, dip it briefly in lukewarm water and let it stand until it can be slid off the paper. Slide it into place, press the water out with a soft brush from the center outward and blot up the rest. Over riveting and engraving a softener helps, but once it is applied do not touch the decal until it is dry. Finally varnish the surface again.
