This is not a vehicle kit but an add-on resin track set for the Sd.Kfz. 11 and Sd.Kfz. 251 half-tracks. It replaces the tracks from the box and lets you build the one running-gear version that differs from the other variants in the type of pad on the link. The 112g identifier is part of the item name; the number of links and the way they are packed is not stated here.
German half-tracks used tracks with a steel core in each link and rubber pads on the face that meets the road. The rubber damped the ride, cut the noise and spared paved roads, but it also wore out quickly, and later production moved away from it in part in favor of all-steel links. The pattern of the pad changed during production, so choosing the right type of track is one of the details that mark out a carefully built model of a particular machine.
Before you build, wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap to get rid of mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks away with a sharp knife or a cutting disc; nippers crush resin. Only cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) holds the joints, plastic cement does nothing here. Sand wet and protect your airways. A sprayed primer improves paint adhesion a great deal. When painting, it pays to separate the rubber pad from the steel part of the link: keep the steel in a dark steel tone with rust and worn edges rubbed through to a shine, and leave the pad a flat dark gray to black with no metallic sheen. Add dust and mud last so that the difference between the two materials does not disappear under them.
