A detail set from PANZER ART for a model of the German medium tank Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. H/J in 1:35 scale. It contains a turned metal gun barrel of 75 mm caliber for the KwK40 gun with a barrel of L/48 length with the final type of muzzle brake and a resin mantlet. It is an aftermarket accessory for plastic models of the late H and J versions of the Panzer IV, not a kit in itself.
The Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. H and J versions were the most widespread late form of the Panzer IV, with the long 7.5 cm KwK40 gun with a barrel of L/48 length. Toward the end of production the gun appeared with a final (simplified) muzzle brake. The shape of the mantlet and an exact barrel with the right muzzle brake are among the elements that most affect the fidelity of a model.
Before building, wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove any mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a knife and clean the surfaces up with abrasive paper, with respiratory protection. Glue resin with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). A turned metal barrel has a perfectly straight axis with no casting seams and a muzzle drilled to depth, so once painted it looks more realistic than a barrel in plastic. Before filler and paint, we recommend seating the parts dry and checking that the mantlet beds correctly into the opening in the turret of the base model. The final muzzle brake differs from the earlier types, so verify that it matches the H/J version you are building.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The tank model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
