A fixed shaft from the internal mechanism of Gaahleri airbrushes, common to the GHAD-68 model and to the Swallowtail range.
Responsibility details are not available.
An airbrush looks from the outside like a simple tube with a needle, but inside it a set of small parts works that converts the movement of a finger into two different events at once: opening the air and drawing the needle back. The shaft belongs to the part of the mechanism along which the moving elements are guided. When it wears or bends, it shows up in a jerky action, an uneven spray and in the airbrush no longer responding smoothly to the pressure of a finger.
The part is listed as common to two machines from the maker's range – to the model marked GHAD-68 from the advanced line and to airbrushes from the Swallowtail group. A shared mechanism is usual with this brand, so one replacement covers several machines in a workshop.
When replacing it, it is useful to work over a flat tray or a cloth, so that the small components are not lost in the carpet. It is sensible to clean the dismantled airbrush completely on that occasion, because dried remains of paint in the mechanism cause similar trouble to a faulty part. Before reassembly, check whether the shaft is straight and free of nicks, and lubricate the mechanism only with a product intended for airbrushes. Anyone who sprays regularly usually acquires the small internal components in advance; a repair then takes a quarter of an hour instead of several days of waiting for delivery of a single small piece.
