A resin replacement turret in 1:35 scale for the model of the British Churchill Mk IV infantry tank. The casting includes a camouflage net of jute tape wound over the turret, that is a feature practically out of reach in plastic and only laboriously imitated by hand. The set does not replace the kit, only one of its parts.
The Churchill belonged among the British infantry tanks, that is machines built for toughness and for crossing terrain rather than for speed. The Mk IV is marked out by a cast turret whose rounded shape differs noticeably from the welded forms, so a mix-up is clearly visible on a model. The added jute camouflage tape was to break up the silhouette and damp down reflections. For a modeler it brings two things at once: a striking texture of wound cloth and a natural reason to set the turret apart in color from the rest of the vehicle.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap, cut the casting block off with a saw and level the surface. Sand resin wet and with your airways protected. Offer the turret up dry and check whether the pin seats into the hull of your kit. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Build the painting on contrast: the base in a British shade with an airbrush, the cloth noticeably grayer and more faded, a thin wash in the hollows, the wound edges lightly with a dry brush. British vehicles take a fairly restrained finish, so go easy on dust and mud and concentrate them in the lower areas and around the grab handles.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
