An accessory for a diorama in 1:35 scale: a dug-in Italian M13/40 tank in a form for the North African battlefield.
Responsibility details are not available.
Tanks that could no longer run or could not be towed away were dug into the sand in North Africa and went on serving as fixed firing positions. Only the turret and part of the hull then remained above ground, banked up with sand, crates and anything the crew could find. The subject of this accessory is an Italian M13/40 medium tank from Fiat-Ansaldo production dug in this way, that is the most widespread Italian tank of the North African campaign.
It is a feature meant for a diorama in 1:35 scale, not a kit of the vehicle. It fits into a sand base or into a dug position and completes a scene in which the tank itself need not be mobile. What the package holds exactly, and how the parts are set into the ground, are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Lay out the base first and try the seating dry; room has to be left around the dug-in vehicle for the heaped sand. Use super glue. Before painting, wash and degrease the surface and apply an undercoat. Build the sand shades up in thin layers from a darker tone to a lighter one, so that the lower part at the ground stays darker. Keep the dust on the vertical faces weaker than on the horizontal ones, as otherwise the scene looks uniform.
For builders of dioramas from North Africa and for modelers looking for a strong focal point in a scene. Paints, glue, a base and material for the ground are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
