A set of photo-etched metal parts in 1:24 scale for a model of the racing Toyota Corolla Levin AE92 in the ADVAN configuration. An accessory for a car kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Toyota Corolla Levin AE92 is a Japanese coupe from the end of the 1980s, and its racing versions ran in touring car circuit events. The ADVAN designation in the name refers to the color scheme of one of the racing cars. The set is aimed at a modeler who wants to replace the coarser plastic parts on a car in 1:24 scale with thin metal.
It is a set of photo-etched parts. Photo-etch is thin metal sheet into which the shapes are etched chemically, so a part comes out considerably finer than one that can be made from plastic. The individual parts are held on the fret by thin tabs and are separated from them before use. Which parts of the car the set replaces, and which kit it is cut for, is given in the manufacturer's instructions, so before building it is worth checking that it fits the model you are building.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not by breaking them off, otherwise they will distort. Sand the remainder of the tab down with a fine file. Make the bends in a photo-etch bending tool or between two blades, so that the edge comes out sharp. Metal is bonded with super glue or a two-part epoxy; it does not react to cement for plastic models. Before painting, wash and degrease the surface and use a base color intended for metal, otherwise the paint holds badly on smooth sheet.
The set suits a modeler who builds cars in 1:24 scale and wants to raise the level of detail beyond the kit. Working with photo-etch calls for a sharp knife, tweezers and patience. The kit itself, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
