It is the AN/ALQ-131 jamming pod in the deep three-band form, that is, the variant with a taller body. Unlike the sister item from the same manufacturer, which is cut for F-16 models, this one is in a general form with no particular carrier specified. The package contains neither the aircraft nor any part of it.
The AN/ALQ-131 is an American underwing electronic jamming pod, which a tactical aircraft most often carries on the fuselage station. Its external shape follows from the number of frequency modules fitted. The shallow variant with two bands has a low body, the deep variant with three bands is substantially taller. The difference between the two forms is clearly visible on a model, which is why the manufacturer makes them separately, and it is worth choosing according to a period photograph of a particular machine.
The casting is separated from the casting block with a fine saw or a sharp knife. Pliers are not suitable for a part this small, as the pressure would break the resin. Before gluing, wash the part in lukewarm soapy water; that removes the remains of mold release agent from the mold. It is bonded with super glue, as cement for plastic does not work on resin. Sanding only the mating surface is enough, otherwise in 1:144 scale you will easily wipe away the surface detail. Before painting a primer is practically mandatory. Choose the shade according to the camouflage of the particular aircraft, as with pods it is common for them to differ slightly from the finish of the fuselage.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit of the aircraft, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
