The kit in 1:72 scale belongs to the range of hypothetical German equipment, that is of designs that never came about. It combines the chassis of the E-50 project series with anti-aircraft armament of the Flak 38 type in an open superstructure. The model is injection-molded from polystyrene and is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Check the exact contents of the package and the number of parts on the packaging.
The real subject is a design fiction; no such machine was built. Both of its components, however, have a real basis. The E-50 series was part of a planned unification of the production of late German equipment into several weight classes, where the fifty-ton class was to replace the earlier types with a simpler design that could be produced more quickly. It remained at the project stage, though. The 20 mm Flak 38 automatic gun, by contrast, was an entirely real and very widespread anti-aircraft weapon, fielded both on its own mounting and on the chassis of vehicles. It is precisely the fitting of a light quick-firing weapon onto a heavy chassis that is a typical motif of this modeling range, because it joins the bulk of a hull with an open, manned weapon.
The open anti-aircraft superstructure is on view, so finish and paint it separately and seat it in the hull only at the end. Fit the barrels and the fine parts of the mounting at the end, as they snap off easily in a small scale. Finish the running gear before you close the bottom of the hull up. Even the base out with primer, and in 1:72 scale choose shades a little lighter, because varnish and patina will darken the result. Apply a wash purposefully into the gaps and around the rivets, not over the whole surface. A fictional subject is not tied to documentation, and late German schemes with a dark yellow base and patches look good.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
