A kit of a German self-propelled anti-tank gun of the Second World War period. Vehicles of this kind came about by mounting an anti-tank gun on a tank chassis, usually without a rotating turret and with the superstructure fixed to the hull. Production was cheaper and quicker than that of a tank with a turret, and the price for it was limited traverse: to engage a target outside a narrow arc, the whole vehicle had to be turned. That is exactly why such machines proved themselves mainly in defense, from ambush and from prepared positions.
The model in 1:100 scale is small: a vehicle six meters long comes out at six centimeters in this scale. A size like that suits a collection where there is little room, and tabletop games where vehicles are maneuvered across a board. A whole company of such vehicles takes up less space in a display case than a single model in 1:35 scale. The extent of the parts and the assembly sequence are given in the instructions included with the kit.
Separate and clean the parts before building, cut the excess material away a little way from the part and sand the remainder down. At a small scale every heavy coat of paint reads as a deposit, so spray thinly and keep the weathering in check; a darker shadow in the gaps and a lighter tone on the upper surfaces is enough. Dust the tracks and the lower hull only at the end. Lay the small parts out on a surface before gluing, so that they do not get lost.
Paints, glue, thinner and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
