1:48 F-4C/D Phantom II EXPERT kabuki masks

F-4C/D Phantom II EXPERT – masking set 1:48 (New Ware)

An extensive masking set in fine kabuki tape for a model of the McDonnell Douglas F-4C/D Phantom II fighter in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker New Ware. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model. The EXPERT version usually includes masks for the cockpit with its frames and inner side, the other clear parts, the wheels, the armament and the camouflage features. Made for matching plastic F-4C/D models in this scale.

The real subject

The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II was a two-seat twin-engine multirole fighter of the Cold War. The F-4C and F-4D versions served with the US Air Force above all in the 1960s and 1970s, including deployment over Vietnam. The extensive two-seat cockpit with its intricate glazing is typical.

Use and tips

• Kabuki tape shapes well around curves and leaves no adhesive behind.
• Apply the masks to a smooth, degreased finish and press the edges down.
• Spray thin coats and lift the masks while they are fresh.
• The inner masks also allow realistic glazing on the two-seat cockpit.

Who the set is for

• Modelers who want to mask the whole model from one package.
• Builders of Cold War fighters in 1:48 scale.
• Advanced modelers who deal with the armament and the camouflage as well.

The masking set is an accessory for a model. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
