A masking set in kabuki paper for a model of the AH-1G Cobra attack helicopter in 1:32 scale, at the basic BASIC level.
Responsibility details are not available.
The AH-1G Cobra was the first production attack helicopter of the US Army. You can recognize it by its narrow fuselage with a cockpit for two men in tandem, its skid landing gear and its stub wings with pylons for armament. The narrow glazed cockpit is the most conspicuous place on the model, and it is therefore the one that decides whether the build comes off convincingly.
A masking set in 1:32 scale, cut from kabuki paper. The paper holds on the surface by itself, can be bent over a curved area and leaves no sticky marks on the surface of the model when lifted. The designation BASIC distinguishes the extent of the set within the range; the exact list of areas covered and the procedure for applying them are given in the instructions enclosed with the set. The cut shapes are matched to a particular model, so there is no slow cutting of tape and gluing by eye.
The masks are applied before spraying, onto a clean, degreased and dry surface. Press the edges down carefully so that paint cannot run under them, and lay on several thin coats rather than one heavy one. Lift the mask as soon as the paint is dry, not after a longer wait; tweezers and a pull at an angle across the edge help. On glazing frames it works well to spray the interior shade first and only then the exterior color. Leave the remaining masks in place until the end of the painting, so that the frame does not have to be touched up with a brush.
This is an add-on set. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
