Top Studio 1:12 Clutch for the 2006 to 2008 YZR-M1 is a small detailing set of the clutch for a model of the Yamaha YZR-M1 racing motorcycle in 1:12 scale. It is not a model of the motorcycle.

This Top Studio set replaces the simplified plastic part of the clutch with a more faithful execution. It is an accessory to an already bought kit in 1:12 scale, not a model in its own right. The set addresses one particular assembly of the engine, so it suits a modeler who does not want to buy a large detailing set and needs to fine-tune only this part.
The Yamaha YZR-M1 of the 2006 to 2008 seasons was a factory prototype of the premier class of road racing; the transition of the rules from a capacity of 990 cc to 800 cc falls in the 2007 season, so the designation covers machines of both generations. The clutch of a racing machine is a structurally demanding assembly with plates and springs, but on a model it tells mainly through the shape of the basket and the visible structure, if the builder leaves the engine cover open.
A plastic molding usually presents the clutch as a smooth disc with no inner structure, because the mold does not allow undercuts. A detailing part brings the division of the basket, legible springs and sharper edges, so that the exposed right side of the engine looks like a mechanism. The effect tells only on a model built with the engine exposed or with the cover taken off.
Before gluing, try the part dry and check that it sits into the engine space of the kit. Wash the resin parts in warm soapy water to rid them of the remains of the mold release agent, and bond them with super glue. The painting is managed by a combination of a dark metallic shade on the basket and a lighter metal on the plates, completed by a dark wash in the recesses; wipe the excess wash away before it dries.
