Injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary Honda VFR750R road motorcycle, known by the code designation RC30, in 1:12 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya. The model faithfully captures the homologation special of the late 1980s and offers a richly detailed engine and running gear. The kit contains more than a hundred parts, rubber tires, waterslide decals and both assembly and painting instructions. The fairing is split into an upper and a lower section and is also molded in clear plastic, so the detail beneath it can be shown.
The Honda VFR750R (RC30) was a limited-production road version of a racing machine, introduced in the second half of the 1980s as the homologation basis for superbike racing. It was powered by a compact liquid-cooled sixteen-valve 748 cc V4 engine. Its technical highlights included a twin-spar aluminum frame, the single-sided Pro-Arm swingarm and a quick-release rear wheel hub.
Assemble and paint the frame and the engine first, and pick out the aluminum and chrome parts with metallic shades. The fairing needs a smooth gloss finish, over which you then apply the sponsor and type decals and seal them with clear varnish. Do not glue the rubber tires with ordinary cement for plastic. Dry-fit the engine and the running gear before you close up the fairing.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
