A wooden base from Modelling Made in Poland that gives a finished model a firm and presentable footing. The designation in the name describes three things: the wood (pine), the board size of 10.5 x 14 cm and the Classic shape in the Oak finish, that is in a lighter, oak-toned shade. It is not a kit and not a part for the build — the base is bought ready-made and its turn comes once the model is finished and needs a dignified place.
The range offers several board shapes and several color shades, so you can match a whole cabinet to one look. The Classic shape is the basic form of the range, and the Oak shade keeps a warm light tone against which a darkly painted vehicle or a figure in a colorful uniform stands out well. The thickness of the board and the kind of surface treatment are not given by the manufacturer in the designation.
A model is most often bonded to the board with super glue or epoxy; with heavier pieces, anchoring with wire through a drilled hole is safer. The surface can also be used as the groundwork for a small scene — a thin layer of modeling putty, gravel or static grass is enough to turn the base into a simple diorama. If you want to leave the wood exposed, mask the edge of the board before you start so that you do not soil it with paint or glue.
