Kazakhstan went down in the history of the European transport aircraft as the first customer from Central Asia. The contract for two machines was settled at the close of 2021 and for the country's aviation, built for long decades on Soviet types, it meant a fundamental turn toward western production. A vast territory with great distances between garrisons is a textbook use for an aircraft with such a range and with the ability to land on an unpaved surface.
The set carries Kazakh national insignia with the sun motif, registration numbers, captions on the fin and accompanying lettering from the sides of the fuselage. It is precisely the combination of an unusual marking and the well-known silhouette of the Airbus that makes the finished model a piece that will catch the eye on a shelf among the usual western European schemes.
The best results are achieved when the element is cut out close to the outline, dipped for a moment in lukewarm water and let slide onto a spot treated with gloss clear. It is a good idea to wipe the remains of the adhesive away with a damp cloth before the sheet dries, otherwise a matte mark will be left behind by them. The medium tone of the Kazakh insignia holds well even on the darker shades of gray that appear on transport aircraft after several years of service.
The low number of real machines has one pleasant side for a modeler: the marking is unambiguous and there is no risk of a mistake in the version. At the same time, though, it means that photographic documentation is scarce, and it therefore pays to look the sheet over before masking and spraying. The arrangement of the elements on it will hint at where the coat of paint should end and where the color divisions run.
