Three schemes of markings for the late production subversion of the Mitchell bomber in 1:144 scale. Two combat machines and one surviving aircraft in the colors of a Texas aviation museum.
Responsibility details are not available.
The last and most numerous production subversion of the bomber came about through a return to the glazed forward section that the previous variant had sacrificed to a cannon. The crew thereby regained a bombardier's position and the aircraft could be used more universally, from classic bomb dropping to low-level strikes with additional machine guns in side packs. Machines of exactly this kind are covered by all three schemes on this sheet.
Two schemes belong to aircraft from the Pacific theater, and one of them is credited by the supplier to a unit providing support for engineer detachments. The third set of markings belongs to a machine that has survived to the present day and flies in the colors of a museum in Fort Worth, Texas. There is therefore the option of building a pair of wartime aircraft and one example alongside them in the guise in which it can be met at today's air shows.
Cut out only the piece of artwork you are working with and leave the rest of the sheet dry. The surface of the model should be smooth and glossy, because matte clear holds air bubbles under a decal. Once the artwork is moved into place, press it down with a soft cloth and blot off the water. The small lettering on the nose is barely a millimeter in this scale, so it is better to place it last, when your hand is already practiced on the larger pieces.
The package consists of the sheet alone with a list of three schemes. The model, paints and clear coat are not in it, and the bomber therefore has to be obtained as a separate kit matching the late subversion.
