The 1:144 scale is the domain of small display cases and of more extensive scenes, where more machines fit side by side; the finished model has a length of a few centimeters. The particular material and the number of parts are given on the box and in the instructions in the kit - at this scale the number of parts tends to be low and the build quick.
The BTR-60 is a Soviet armored personnel carrier with eight wheels and drive to all axles, introduced into service from the beginning of the 1960s. The hull is welded from armor plate with a markedly sloped front part, and the vehicle is amphibious, with a water jet in the rear for movement on water. The version designated PU is the command and staff rendering: instead of carrying troops it serves as a workplace with communications equipment, which shows from the outside mainly in a different arrangement of antennas and superstructures. The vehicle was widespread in a number of armies and was used after the end of the Cold War as well.
In 1:144 scale cleanness of work decides more than the number of details. Clean the parts carefully of casting residue, because even a trace of flash is visible on such a small model. Start the base with primer, apply the main color with an airbrush in two or three thin coats and keep the modulation fine - strong contrasts would look artificial at this scale. The wheels are painted better separately before they are fitted. At the end, weather it with suitable restraint: a dark wash into the engraved lines and a hint of dust on the lower parts are enough, while fine scuffs tend to do more harm than good at this scale.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
