An injection-molded plastic kit of the Canadian turboprop in 1:144 scale by the Czech manufacturer Mark I. The brand issues the Twin Otter in a series of boxes that differ from one another in the choice of markings; besides this one, the manufacturer's range also holds the boxes In the Americas, Worldwide Military Service, Twotter and In Civilian Skies. It is therefore not a duplicate but a separate box with a different range of schemes. The particular contents of this package are to be found on the box.
The De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter first flew in 1965 and became one of the most widespread utility aircraft for short takeoff and landing. It is powered by Pratt and Whitney Canada turboprop engines of the PT6A series, it has a high-set wing and fixed landing gear that can be replaced with skis or floats. It was precisely that versatility that opened operation from short grass and gravel surfaces, from ice and from water to it. It flies with regional carriers, with air taxi services, in tourist operations and with military users, and production resumed in a newer series after a pause.
In 1:144 the parts are small, so have a sharp knife, tweezers and a thin liquid cement for plastic ready. Sand and polish the seams of the fuselage and the engine nacelles carefully, otherwise they will stand out under glossy paint. Mask the glazing in advance, prime the whole model and apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats. Spray a gloss varnish before the decals, so that no silvered edges appear, and finally draw the surface together with a matte or semi-gloss varnish. Fit the propeller blades and the fine antennas right at the end, so that they do not break while the model is handled.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
