A stand-alone sheet of waterslide decals for 1:144 scale. Unlike most sheets in this range, these are not national markings but small technical warning signs that are applied around the cabin on jet aircraft. The package holds two identical sets.

What the markings are for on the real thing

A warning triangle alerts ground personnel to the presence of an ejection seat and to the danger zones around it. It therefore has to be clearly visible and is typically found on the sides of the fuselage at the level of the cabin or near the canopy. For a modeler these are what are called stencils, that is the small service lettering and markings that on a model make the difference between a toy and a faithful miniature. It is precisely they that give a finished aircraft its sense of scale and the look of hardware in service.

Working with small decals in 1:144

This is a discipline where patience and equipment come in useful. The recommended procedure: a sharp scalpel with a new blade, a trim close to the edge of the printing so that no needless clear film is left, flat tweezers with smooth jaws and definitely a magnifying glass or a magnifier lamp. Leave the marking on the paper and carry it to the model together with the backing, then slide it off the paper into place with a soft damp brush, never with tweezers directly by the film. Draw the water off with the corner of a paper towel. Because of their size these decals easily stick to the brush, so keep wetting it. Use a softener sparingly, as a small marking can dissolve completely in a heavy dose. Once dry, fix it with an overcoat.
