This item is a resin accessory, not a kit of an aircraft. On an F-16 model in 1:144 scale it replaces the lower air intake with the late, wider form that modelers know under the nickname Shark. The air intake on the F-16 is right below the cockpit, and seen from the front and from the side alike it is one of the first details the eye notices — which is why swapping it on a model pays off. The set is meant for the Revell kit.
Over the course of production the F-16 got two different forms of air intake. Early machines have the narrower intake, and the later production blocks were given a markedly wider one, to satisfy the demands of the stronger General Electric F110 engines. The difference can be seen with the naked eye, and for a modeler it is one of the points by which the generation an aircraft belongs to is told. This set deals with exactly that late, wider form.
Wash the part in warm water with detergent, to get release agent from the mold off the surface. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a cutting disc and sand the mating surface flat; the accuracy of the seating to the fuselage decides how much work there will be with filling. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Spray the inside of the duct with a pale color before you glue the part on — once it is on, neither a brush nor a nozzle will get in there. Fill the join to the fuselage and sand it over wet, and only then the base and the covering color.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a model on its own. The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted; paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
