A vacuum-formed canopy for kits of the FM-2 Wildcat fighter in 1:144 scale from the Czech maker Brengun. The canopy is intended for a particular kit of this type - according to the name, the Sweet kit; check compatibility with your model before buying. The vacuum-formed molding is markedly thinner and clearer than an injection-molded part, so the cockpit looks far truer in scale and you can see into it better.
The FM-2 Wildcat was the final production version of the American Grumman Wildcat carrier fighter, built in the plants of the General Motors corporation. Compared with the earlier versions it was given a more powerful engine and a taller vertical tail surface, and thanks to its low landing speed it suited small escort carriers superbly, from which in the second half of the war it protected convoys and supported landing operations in the Atlantic and the Pacific.
Cut the molding out step by step - first roughly with fine scissors, then sand the edge down carefully and keep trying it on the fuselage. Clarity is helped by dipping it in gloss varnish. Glue with PVA (white) glue or with a special cement for canopies; super glue can fog the molding. Mask the canopy frames with thin strips of tape or paint them with a brush and a steady hand.
This is an accessory, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
