The FB.11 was the most widespread production version of the Sea Fury and differed from the pure fighter configuration in its ability to carry external stores, that is, bombs or unguided rockets under the wing. It was powered by the Bristol Centaurus radial engine. In the Far East these machines flew from the decks of aircraft carriers and carried out mainly attack missions against ground targets. It was here that the advantage of a piston-engine aircraft with long endurance over the target and a large load-carrying capacity showed itself, something the early jet machines of the day could not offer.
On a small model, painting decides more than anything else. Set the airbrush to low pressure, roughly in the range where the paint still atomizes but does not form a mist, and apply several very thin coats instead of one covering layer. Thin the paint more than you are used to from a larger scale, otherwise the spray fills the engraved panel lines. A single-color dark upper finish is rewarding to liven up with so-called post shading, that is, a gentle darkening along the panel lines and, conversely, lightening of the centers of the surfaces. Glue the external stores on only after the airframe has been varnished, as they are then easier to paint separately. Finally unify the surface with matte varnish, which at the same time hides the edges of the decals.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
