In the Second World War the Luftwaffe carried a national insignia in the form of a swastika on the vertical tail surface. The insignia was used in several sizes and forms according to the type of aircraft and the period, so on two machines of the same unit it could differ. For a model it is a detail that is seen at once from the side.
Decals of the national insignia in 1:144 scale, in five sizes matching the real dimensions of 315, 400, 500, 630 and 800 mm; converted into the scale they work out at roughly 2.2 to 5.6 mm. The sheet is supplied in two sets, so one item provides insignia for several models or for both sides of the tail surface on several machines. The qualifier Outlined sets this variant apart from the basic form of the same insignia.
Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is not a self-adhesive version; a soaked self-adhesive film is ruined, whereas a waterslide decal that has not been soaked can be soaked later. On an ordinary waterslide decal, proceed as follows: apply a gloss coat to the surface, cut the motif out, soak it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it stand until it can be moved off the backing. Once it is settled, draw the water off with a paper tissue and, when dry, go over it with a matte or gloss varnish.
The sheet will be used by modelers who build German aircraft in a small scale and need the insignia in a size matching a particular type, or who are adding insignia that are missing or damaged on older kits.
