1:144 Panavia Tornado pitot tube is a turned metal part for a model in the small 1:144 scale, where a plastic probe can never be thin enough.
Responsibility details are not available.
A metal accessory for a model of the Panavia Tornado combat aircraft in 1:144 scale from the Polish manufacturer MASTER. It is not an aircraft kit but a replacement part fitted to a finished plastic model. The kit has to be bought separately.
The smaller the scale, the greater the difference between metal and plastic. In 1:144 the probe ought to be less than a tenth of a millimeter thick, which an injection mold cannot manage. The plastic part therefore looks like a little rod and the whole nose becomes visually heavy. Turned brass can be made as thin as the scale requires and still stay straight. At the same time, a small model is picked up by every visitor, and in this scale a plastic probe is the first thing to break off.
Work under a magnifier or an optical aid, as parts in this scale are hard to find. Drill the hole in the nose with the finest bit you have, and preferably in several steps so that the material does not tear. Seat the metal with a drop of super glue applied on the tip of a pin. Use paint only where it is needed; on such a tiny part a very thin coat is enough, otherwise the probe visually thickens. Degrease the metal with alcohol before painting and cover it with a primer for metal. Glue the probe on right at the end, and the model can then be held by the fuselage without risk.
An accessory to a plastic kit, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
