A decal sheet in 1:144 scale with British aviation motifs from the period of the Second World War. At this scale a fighter measures the width of a palm and the insignia on it are so small that they practically cannot be painted with a brush; a decal is therefore the usual way to mark a model cleanly and symmetrically. Which motifs the sheet carries and in what sizes is shown by the illustration of the sheet and by the enclosed instructions.
In the Second World War the Royal Air Force used circular national insignia in several color combinations and sizes, supplemented with bands on the vertical tail surface and with letter codes for the units. The form of the insignia changed over the course of the war according to the theater and according to whether the upper, lower or side surfaces were involved, so it pays to compare the motif you choose with a period photograph of the machine.
Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is not a self-adhesive version; a soaked self-adhesive film is ruined beyond recovery. On the usual waterslide decal, cut the motif out with a narrow margin, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it stand until the carrier film releases. The surface has to be smooth and glossy. You align the position with a brush and a drop of water, draw the excess off and finally varnish the area.
The model, paints, varnish and softener are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
