This item is a resin accessory, not a kit. According to the name it holds a boarding ladder for an Su-27 model in 1:144 scale and intake covers with it, that is the blanks which on the real aircraft are fitted on the flight line so that dirt or foreign objects do not get into the engines. Both belong to the equipment that plastic kits in this scale do not commonly hold.

The real subject

The Sukhoi Su-27 is a twin-engine heavy fighter aircraft with an integral layout of the airframe, a pronounced leading-edge root extension and two engines in separate nacelles in the rear part of the fuselage. The air intakes are placed under the fuselage and are so large that the blanks look really conspicuous on the flight line. A model with a ladder at the cockpit and covers on the intakes reads at once as a machine parked, not as an aircraft in the air.

Building and painting tips

Wash the parts in warm water with detergent to rid them of release agent from the mold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the faces carefully — with small parts such as the rungs of a ladder it pays to work with a magnifier. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The intake covers come out well when you set them apart in color from the rest of the aircraft; a ladder, by contrast, comes out well when you pick it out after painting with a dark wash and a light dry brush along the edges. When sanding resin, sand wet and protect your airways.
