Injection-molded plastic kit model of the American strategic bomber Boeing B-52H Stratofortress in 1:144 scale from Academy, in the guise of a machine of the 20th Bomb Squadron Buccaneers. Even in this smaller scale it is a sizeable model with a large span and eight engines. The box offers three marking options and the option of building the landing gear and the bomb bay doors open or closed. The B-52G is the older version of the same bomber and differs in its engines.
The B-52 Stratofortress is an American eight-engined strategic bomber deployed since the 1950s as a carrier of nuclear and conventional weapons. The B-52H version is the youngest and the only one still flying, and it differs from the older machines above all in its Pratt & Whitney TF33 turbofan engines, which replaced the older J57 turbojets. They brought greater range, lower consumption and less smoke. Thanks to upgrades the B-52H remains in active service with the US Air Force and is counted on for decades ahead.
Use liquid cement for plastic and pay attention to the fit of the long fuselage and the large wings with their eight engine nacelles. Decide in advance whether you will build the bomb bay and the landing gear open. Coat the surface with a gloss varnish before the decals; SAC units most often carried the gray camouflage schemes of the Cold War. Bring out the panel lines with a gentle wash and unify the final surface with a matte coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
