The Sd.Kfz. 250 was a light German armored half-track of the Second World War. It was simplified during production and the later vehicles are listed under the designation neue Art: their hull is laid out differently from the earlier form, but the running gear stayed the same in character. At the rear they are carried by the tracked running gear, at the front by a plain axle with pneumatic tires that is not driven and serves for steering.
Replacement wheels in 1:16 scale with the road tread pattern, in the late form marked as type 2, intended for Das Werk kits. According to the name they fit the Sd.Kfz. 250 as well as the later neue Art vehicles. In a large scale the wheel moves to the foreground: the tread pattern, the transition to the sidewall and the division of the rim are all plain from normal viewing distance and decide whether the model looks convincing.
Before you start gluing, dry-fit the wheels and compare the diameter and the mounting with the kit parts. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little from the part and sand the remainder down so the sidewall keeps an unbroken edge. Then wash and degrease the wheels. Choose the glue according to the material stated on the packaging; the exact procedure follows the manufacturer's instructions. Paint for depth: a muted dark gray base, a dry brush one shade lighter over the pattern, a dark wash into the grooves and finally a light dusting of the lower part of the wheel. Set the rim apart with the vehicle color.
The wheels are supplied on their own. The vehicle kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
