The little brother of the famous carrier

The Sd.Kfz 250 grew out of the shortened chassis of a half-track tractor by Demag and was markedly smaller than the better known Sd.Kfz 251. From 1941 it served reconnaissance detachments, artillery observers and staffs and saw a long series of sub-renditions, from a machine gun carrier through a signals vehicle to a carrier for an anti-tank gun. At first it had a superstructure with faceted surfaces, and from the end of 1943 a simplified rendition with fewer welded joints replaced it. It is precisely the variety of tasks that makes it a rewarding subject for scenes.

Painting the rim step by step

The rim looks best when it is separated in color from the rubber tire and gets a shade of its own. A dark wash suits the recesses in its face, while a fine dust suits the circumference. If you use it as a stowed spare, lean it against the hull or against a crate and add a small shadow, so that it does not look stuck on.
