An injection-molded plastic kit of the American all-weather night interceptor F-86D Dog Sabre in 1:48 scale from the manufacturer Revell. The package holds plastic parts, a clear canopy and decals for the marking options. It is a version derived from the famous Sabre, adapted for the interceptor role with a radar and rocket armament.
The F-86D was a single-seat interceptor, capable of fighting at night and in any weather, derived from the F-86 Sabre day fighter. It differed markedly from the basic version: in the nose it carried a radar placed above the characteristic air intake, and instead of cannons it was armed with a retractable tray of unguided rockets. For its appearance and its role it earned the nickname Dog. It served in the 1950s with the US Air Force and with a number of allies as an important part of air defense.
Use liquid cement for plastic and work in subassemblies. Finish and paint the cockpit before the fuselage is closed. Apply a primer before painting; with natural metal schemes, metalizer paints applied with an airbrush on a smooth, polished base work well, and shades like these come out better on perfectly sanded joints. Mask the canopy with tape cut to shape. The retractable rocket tray is a rewarding detail and is worth painting carefully.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
