A resin model of the Bristol Jupiter VII radial engine in 1:48 scale from the maker Armory is a detail accessory for models of interwar aircraft with an uncovered engine.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit of an aircraft, but a standalone detail accessory: a casting of a radial aero engine in modeling resin in 1:48 scale. In boxed kits the engine tends to be rendered only in a simplified way, because it is hidden for the most part; but as soon as you uncover it or build an aircraft with the cowling open, the simplification shows at once. A resin casting will offer sharply readable cylinder fins, the valve gear and the small fittings. The maker is Armory.
The Bristol Jupiter was a British air-cooled nine-cylinder radial engine of the 1920s, one of the most widespread aero engines of its time. It was built under license in a number of European countries and powered a great many interwar transport and military aircraft. The Jupiter VII version was among the forms with supercharging, which helped the engine hold its output at greater altitudes as well.
First wash the resin parts with lukewarm soapy water, so that the residues of mold release agent are removed – otherwise the paint will not hold on them. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc; do not snap them. Sanding should be done wet and with protection for your airways, because resin dust is unhealthy. It is glued exclusively with cyanoacrylate glue. Lay a primer down on the engine, use a dark metallic shade as the base, set the cylinders apart with a graphite or iron tone and bring out the valve gear with a thin brush. A fine wash and a dry brush will add depth.
This is a resin accessory, not a model of an aircraft. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package. Before buying, check that the engine corresponds to the aircraft you are building.
