A figure of the driver of the German tracked motorcycle Sd.Kfz.2, known as the Kettenkrad, in 1:16 scale. It is not a model of a vehicle, but a separate figure which is added to a model. The 1:16 scale is larger than standard, so the figure offers room for careful work on the face, the hands and the equipment, and at the same time will show up every unfinished edge without mercy.
The Sd.Kfz.2 Kettenkrad was a small half-tracked tractor controlled from a motorcycle saddle, used during the Second World War for towing light loads and for movement in heavy terrain. The driver sat in the front part of the machine and steered it with handlebars. The figure is conceived for models of this vehicle in the same scale; the manufacturer also makes kits of the Kettenkrad in 1:16 which it can be combined with.
Before painting, deburr the parts, sand the parting seams down and degrease the surface. If it is a resin casting, wash it in soapy water and glue it with super glue; on plastic parts a thin cement for plastic will serve. Always apply a primer, as on a large figure a base for even coverage is fundamental. Build the uniform up from a base tone, shadows in the folds and lightened edges; paint the face separately, as in a larger scale it pays to work with thin glazes. Try the seating of the figure dry in the saddle of the vehicle before you glue anything.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The vehicle, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
