A plastic kit of the Italian self-propelled gun Semovente M42 da 75/34 in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Italeri. The Upgraded Edition adds a metal gun barrel and photo-etch; the tracks can be built either as link-and-length or as one-piece.
The Semovente M42 arose by mounting a 75/34 caliber gun on a medium tank chassis and served as an Italian self-propelled gun. The vehicle was based on the chassis of the medium tank M15/42 and was one of the most effective Italian weapons against armored vehicles; the long 75/34 barrel gave it markedly better penetrating power than the older types. It reached units from the spring of 1943 and, for its effectiveness, German anti-tank detachments used it as well after the Italian surrender in September 1943.
First finish the running gear and the lower tub before you close the hull. The metal gun barrel and the photo-etch call for super glue. It is advisable to finish and paint the assembly of the tracks and the road wheels separately, so that you can reach all the details easily. Use an airbrush for the Italian desert and Mediterranean scheme; create the patina with washes and pigments (dust and mud effects on the running gear).
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
